Art That Supports The Natural World

When I began painting and drawing, I focussed almost exclusively on birds of the British Isles, probably because, since childhood, I have enjoyed their constant company.

A handful of birds later, I began to wonder how much I might enjoy trying to capture other aspects of the natural world on paper and canvas. It is no understatement to say that this journey has lead me to see the world through new eyes, properly seeing form, colour and light in a way I had never fully appreciated before. For these insights I am endlessly grateful – not least because this shift in perspective has had an immensely positive effect on my mental health.

I aspire towards a classical, realist style, though stopping short of being photographic, because I prefer a painting to look like a painting.
